[OOC] Blog Banter #13: Distressing The Damsel

Welcome to the thirteenth instalment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

The first banter of this 2nd year of EVE Blog Banters comes to us from Zargyl from A Sebiestor Scholar, who asked the following: On the EVE Fanfest 2009 page are pictures of prizes for the Silent Auction that was held during the event. One of these photos was entitled “Design your own EVE mission”. My question now would be what kind of mission would you write if you got that prize? What would the mission be about? Would it be one using the new system of epic mission arks? What would be the story told by it? Feel free to expand upon his questions and put together your very own mission!

Everyone who has ran missions for a bit should knows the “The Damsel In Distress” mission. A mission that makes perfect sense when you run it for any of the Empire factions, and even most of the other factions in EVE. It however gets a little funny when a Cartel agent offers you that mission. “… disreputable nightclub …”, “… forced into prostitution …”, and so forth. The whole scenario is pretty ironic! So here is my mission: A pirate’s spin-off called “Distressing The Damsel”.

We have recently captured the daughter of a notable **Empire faction** figure. She’ll make a fine addition to our **pleasure hub / slave camp / testing facility / …** in **system**. We want you to take her there. Reports show that the **Empire faction’s Navy** are aware of the existence of this place and await us there. Take them out and drop the damsel off at her new home.

The parts between ** ** are filled in depending on which pirate faction you get this mission from, their most disliked Empire faction and a nearby system where the deadspace pocket is. The only problem with this mission is that I am not sure if the game engine is able to detect that you have put an item in a container.

Yup, with the addition of the epic arc missions the game can now detect when a certain object is placed into a container. I like this mission idea!

Interesting mission idea, i like it alot.

  3. TheElitist says:

A nice spin on a boring mission, I don't really care if it's already possible with the current dynamics, I didn't let them limit my mission design either.
