Welcome to the fourteenth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to crazykinux@gmail.com. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!
The first banter of 2010 comes to us from the EVE Blog Father, CrazyKinux himself, who asks the following: As we begin another year in New Eden, ask yourselves “What Now?” What will I attempt next? What haven’t I done so far in EVE? Was it out fear, funds, or knowledge? Have I always wanted to start my own corporation, but have never dared doing so? Is there a fledging mercenary waiting to come out of its shell? Or maybe an Industrialist? What steps and objectives will I set myself to accomplish in order to reach my ultimate goal for this year? EVE is what you make of it. So, what is it going to be for you?
- Ninja-ratting in a stealthbomber: The main issue here is time. While I have plenty of it currently there is actually so much pvp activity happening I do not want to move away from our home base. Do have the ships fitted and ready for a quieter time.
- Scale up w-space exploration: Funds, knowledge and skill training. The first should be fixed by a combination of ninja-ratting and my current income from trading, exploration and of course piracy. The latter two will require more group operations and learning the triggers from our experts. Training for tech 3 is also on the menu. And what else is needed beyond class 4’s.
- Join the Carrier Club: Funds, knowledge and skill training. Aside from accumulating even more ISK I will need to learn the tactics involved in being a good carrier pilot and of course finish up a whole bunch of skills. Looking at about at least two months of training so plenty of time to cover that.

GL with the Carrier! Which version of Carrier will you pursue? Personally I like the Armor tanking Carrier but many swear bu the Caldari versions.
Caldari, I just love the looks. Always a nice bonus that they perform well too
I recently ran out of things to train to make my mega/hyp/dominix any better so I started investigating upping my ship class to carrier. It is quite a daunting task and the isk up-tick is also quite unwelcome. If you find time this year to get comfortable, I'd appreciate any enlightenment. The Thanatos feels like a terrible burden more than a powerhouse.
Trading and exploration are great ISK sources, although for the first you need a starting sum to begin with and for the latter a team of RR domi's or a tech III ship. Make sure you also have a reason to get one, like defending your corporation's home system for example, else it is a terrible waste to have one.
Cyras..where the thanatos shines is the ability to move your stuff ANYWHERE you want (outside of hi security space) I don't know about you but moving stuff around in this game is one of the largest hassles there is. Being able to load a Carrier full of ships and then poof have it where you need it to be is well just astounding in terms of ease of access. PLUS the ability to protect fleet members ( by assigning fighters) + being able to remote rep almost anything doesn't hurt.
Heh, heh. The number of ninja ratters is slowly increasing.
It's funny how you can get sucked into one activity (i.e. your PvP stuff) and have alot of other stuff you want to do in Eve. But it's kinda nice there is other stuff out there to do. Eve doesn't disappoint if you keep your mind open and want to try different stuff.
[...] Being a carrier pilot is something that will get ticked off this year, after which I need a new list. And while I never say never, 0.0 sov and all it entails is something I hold no real interest in, [...]
